Crown Chakra Singing Bowl is a pure hand-hammered bowl from Nepal with a deep, humming resonance. Its large 11-inch form can be played as a standard singing bowl or used for a carefully supported sound practice above the head.
One Technique for Focused Listening
- Use this method only when the bowl can be held safely and steadily by a trained practitioner. Do not balance an unsecured bowl directly on a person’s head.
- Place the soft mat between the bowl and its secure support, keeping the bowl stable and away from the ears.
- Tap very gently with the soft striker to produce a low humming sound. Never use a forceful strike near the head.
- The listener may softly sound “OM” or hum with the bowl’s audible pitch, using the shared sound as a point of attention and returning to the present whenever thoughts arise.
Other Ways to Play
- Gentle Strike: Place the bowl on its mat and tap softly to hear the tone develop.
- Rim Playing: Guide the wooden striker steadily around the outer rim to build a continuous sound.
- Versatile Deep Tone: The bowl can be used for personal listening, practitioner-led sessions or as the deeper voice within a group of instruments.
